Summer is Here!

It seems like the heat arrived before it was officially Summer.  Hopefully, you are having great weather.

I haven't had a chance to work on any quilts, since I have been packing, painting and cleaning up the house so it can be sold.  Nothing like downsizing :-).

Here is a cleaning tip:  use a toothbrush to clean your floors where the baseboards meet it.  Also, when selling your house, always have air freshener available.

April Showers Bring May Flowers!

April not only brought showers but it also flew right by.  We have lots of flowers blooming and lots of grass to mow.

Helpful hints when packing:  Use small boxes for books.  Have plenty of newspaper around for packing breakable items.  Clean as you pack. Be ready for dead mice and bugs. Yikes. Have lots of help when moving boxes to storage unit.

And remember to enjoy the flowers that come your way.....

March - St. Patrick's Day is fast approaching!

I can't believe it is already March.

I was talking with my cousin the other day about Carne Asada and he mentioned that folks have been using chuck as the meat instead of the usual flank or skirt steak.  It got me to thinking about hamburger meat.  So, I went out and bought some and fixed it the way I usually do for carne asada.  We had carne asada hamburgers and I used the rest of the meat for tacos.  Yum Yum.

Here is the way I make it:

2 - 3 lbs of meat (flank, skirt or ???)
4-6 Lemons
1/2 -1 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Pepper
1 tsp Garlic Salt (you can use garlic cloves usually 3-4 minced)
1 tsp Cilantro dried (you can use fresh 1/2 tsp, finely chopped)

Place all ingredients in a zip lock bag.  Let marinate for 2-4 hours (I like to give it 24 hrs)

Grill to desired doneness. Cut meat into strips.

Hope you like it :-)

2016 - Time to Pack Up, Clean Up and Move

Yes, this is the year that I pack up and clean up my house.  Once that is done I will be able to move to a different house.  I didn't know how much stuff I had until I started packing.  So, I have been giving stuff away to my daughters. Now, their houses are becoming full while mine has become slimmer. LOL.

Of course I haven't had a chance to work on any new projects.  Which has become very frustrating.  I packed up my fabric, but I kept a couple of pre-cuts out just so I could work on a baby blanket.  We will see when I can get back to sewing.

On top of all that, I am still working with the Boy Scouts to do Eagle Project Reviews and Eagle Board of Reviews where I live.  Those boys have been very busy.

Here are some pictures to help keep you and me motivated.
